This footage shows a poor horse keeled over in the pouring rain after it reportedly collapsed while pulling a fairytale carriage used for tourist rides.
The incident was filmed on Miguel Alemas Avenue in the beach resort town of Acapulco located in the south-western Mexican state of Guerrero and was shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Salgado Crystal’ where it has been viewed 105,000 times.
The horse was used for tourist carriage rides to the port and it keeled over in the rain, suffering an injury that prevented it from standing up again, according to reports.
Meanwhile, one eyewitness claimed that it slipped in the rain and injured itself that way.
‘Salgado Crystal’ urged the local authorities to investigate the incident while asking for all horse-drawn carriage rides to be banned in the tourist city.
According to reports, her online post prompted animal activists to report the incident to the authorities as animal abuse after the horse apparently collapsed out of exhaustion.
It is currently unclear what happened to the injured horse after being moved off the street and whether the local authorities are investigating the owner.
