These images show the police in a speedboat chase with suspected drug traffickers off the coast of Spain like something out of a movie.

The footage shows the drug traffickers’ vessel desperately trying to evade the police as they speed along in the open sea in the Strait of Gibraltar on Friday, 22nd March.

But the video shows the police catching up with the suspects and detaining them, boarding the vessel at gunpoint and placing them in restraints.

The footage then shows the drug traffickers’ vessel in port under police control.

Local media reported that the Civil Guard had managed to intercept the boat after a long chase.

Four suspects were arrested.

The authorities have not yet said if they found drugs on the boat or if the suspects were able to ditch their cargo before being apprehended.

Local reports said that two civil guard officers died in February and two others injured when a drug boat rammed into their patrol boat in the port of Barbate, in Cadiz.

The anti-drug prosecutor of Cadiz, Ana Villagomez. Said that they drug boats were “running freely” in and out of the docks in Cadiz.

She said that the authorities had a lack of resources following the deaths of the two officers in February.
