A woman whose three pit bull dogs tore her 80-year-old mother apart is facing manslaughter charges after being seized by police.
Victim Rosetta Marian Russell Gesselman had been left with the dogs at her home in Troup County, in the US state of Georgia, while her daughter Tongia, 48, was out.
Horrified neighbours called police when they saw Rosetta’s sister screaming for help from a window on 7th October.

Emergency crews who rushed to the home found the victim severely wounded and bleeding on the floor when they arrived.
They immediately rushed her to the Well Star West Georgia Medical Center where she later died from multiple injuries.
Officers from the Troup County Marshal’s Office later claimed they had spotted three large dogs who ran out of a dog flap into the backyard at Gesselman’s home.

They were reportedly a female pit bull mix and the other two were male pit bull and great mastiff mixes.
Investigations showed that the dogs had previously exhibited aggressive behaviour including killing other family pets.
But owner Tongia Gesselman had kept the dogs, despite their behaviour.

After her mother’s death, Gesselman was charged with reckless conduct and felony involuntary manslaughter by local prosecutors.
She remains in jail on a USD 6,000 bond (GBP 5,300).
Media reported that she has not pled guilty and has not appointed a lawyer to defend her case.

Meanwhile, two of the canines were put down at the scene by police while the third dog was later euthanised by authorities.
The investigation continues.
