This is the moment a pilot’s air-raising emergency landing terrified drivers on a busy motorway.
The stunt plane, reported to be a Pitts aerobatic biplane, was forced to land on the SP-340 dual carriageway after engine failure above Sao Joao da Boa Vista, in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, on 21st April.
Terrifying dashcam footage from one car on the fast-moving road shows the plane suddenly sweeping down to the fast lane and landing safely even though it was going uphill.
Then the cool-headed pilot manages to cross the lanes and go under a bridge before amazingly exiting on a slip road as the aircraft appears from sight as the clip ends.
Local media said that the pilot’s luck ran out just moments later when his plane hit a traffic sign and came to a halt.
The local Highway Police said in a statement. “Upon landing, the plane collided with a road sign and stopped on the highway loop.”
Pilot Crashes Into House And Survives
Brazilian Air Force officials, who are investigating the crash landing. Said the plane was an unregistered model.
They described the plane as an “experimental aircraft, without brand and registration number”.
Neither the pilot nor any drivers or passengers were injured in the incident, according to local media reports.
The road was closed for an hour and a half because of the landing and the aircraft was later removed with a tow truck.
It is currently unclear where the plane had taken off from and where it was supposed to land.
