Reports said that the one-year-old boy always cries when his mum steps away and she came up with the idea of trying cut-outs of her image to trick the tot.

The idea initially worked, but the youngster’s parents said that he eventually caught on after around 20 minutes.

The boy’s father Mr. Sato said they went to a printing company to create two life-sized cut-outs. One depicts the mum standing up while the other shows her kneeling on the floor with a smile on her face.

In the viral footage, the mother is seen positing one of the cut-outs at the entrance to the kitchen as her toddler son plays in front of the TV.

While her husband films from the sofa, the mum sneaks out of the room and closes the door behind her.

The dad is heard chuckling as the toddler looks around for his mum and appears to be content that she is visible in the kitchen.

The boy, who reportedly cries whenever his mum is not around, is then seen playing with a box of toys in front of his mum’s cardboard image.
