These images show the owl which has been rescued from a chimney and the firemen joked it may have been from “Harry Potter’s Hogwarts” and that it “flew away like a phoenix from the ashes”.

Firemen were called to a house after a woman reported hearing rustling noises coming from her chimney in Dortmund, the third-largest city of Germany’s most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The unnamed woman feared there may have been a burglar in her chimney, but when she looked further she saw an owl looking back at her resting on a glass sheet in her chimney and reported the owl looked deep into her eyes.

When the owl saw her, it reportedly became scared and went further back up the chimney and could not be coaxed out.

So the woman called for firemen to help, who managed to get the small owl out of the chimney through the cleaning opening on top of the chimney from the roof.

As soon as the owl was rescued it flew off.

Firemen said in their statement: “Suspicions that it was a failed bid to deliver post from the owl from Harry Potter’s Hogwarts could not be confirmed. When it was removed from the chimney it quickly flew away, like a phoenix from the ashes.”

In the Harry Potter books, owls delivered post to Hogwarts.

A fireman added: “It flew away without even thanking us.”
