This former beauty queen who made international headlines and inspired thousands by blogging about her six-year cancer fight has died aged 33.

Serbian Dijana Milojkovic, was diagnosed with womb cancer at age 27 and spent the next six years fighting the illness while telling her tale in a bid to give hope to others.

Her health suddenly deteriorated last month and an urgent appeal for blood was made on her behalf.

The reason behind the blood appeal is not known.

However, it was not enough to save her life and she passed away on 22nd July.

Her former boyfriend, Stefan Karic, was reportedly her biggest support during the battle. 

When she lost her hair Stefan cut his hair as well in an attempt to show solidarity and support.

He even tattooed her face on his body, according to local media.

But the couple broke up in 2017 with Dijana saying that they remained on good terms and that he supported her when she needed it most.

During her 6-year cancer battle a blog where she told of her experiences and gave advice to others. 

On it she wrote: “I am Dijana. Last year I was diagnosed with invasive womb cancer, and only few months after that metastasis in lymph nodes – in abdomen and neck. Even though the prognosis were terrifying, I did not pity myself in any moment neither suffered over my destiny!”

She also wrote: “I don’t give up because the cure is everywhere around us, it only needs to be found.”

“I only want to be healthy, that is my biggest wish. I don’t have other, because now I know that my health is on first place and the biggest treasure.”

According to local media, Dijana previously title Miss Europe 2014, Miss Serbia in 2009 and Miss Sport. 

She also studied at Pharmaceutical Faculty and the Faculty of Management at the University of Belgrade.

Netizens mourned her death online in the wake of her passing.

Netizen ‘elisa day’ commented: “Rest in peace, beautiful girl.”

While ‘Gogili’ added: “Oh dear God, why, God has taken an angel, my heart is breaking, rest in peace beautiful girl, honest condolences to the family.”
