This is the moment a man falling from a high-rise building lands right on top of a granny and her young grandson as they spend time together on China’s Children’s day.

The accident happened at around 5pm local time on 1st June as the tot and his nan, whose names and ages were not disclosed, were taking a stroll inside the Sunny Victoria Gardens residential area where they live.

Officers in Dongpo District in Meishan, a city in China’s south-western Sichuan Province, have confirmed that the grandmother is still in intensive care at Meishan People’s Hospital.

CCTV cameras from the residential complex in Meishan City in south-western China’s Sichuan Province shows the pair standing on a footpath when they are struck from above by the falling object, which police said was a man who plunged off a nearby high-rise block.

The male, whose identity was also not revealed, died of injuries sustained during the fall, according to officers with the Zizhu Police Station.

The boy is believed to have died on the spot after being struck by the man, who is believed to be a homeowner in the residential district.

However, the police have yet to comment on speculation in local media that the man might have committed suicide.

The Dongpo Public Security Bureau has asked members of the public not to spread false information as further investigations continue.
