This is the moment a female learner driver fatally ploughs into two elderly women chatting on the pavement after she apparently confuses the accelerator with the brake.

The shocking incident occurred in the Yuregir district of Adana province in Turkey when learner driver S.K. took her boyfriend’s car out for a drive to practice.

In the video, two women, named in reports as Munevver Can, 74, and Raziye Can, 74, can be seen sitting on the pavement chatting when S.K. drives into them at high speed after reportedly confusing the accelerator with the brake.

An onlooker then opens the door and S.K. gets out of the car before the man gets in and reverses the vehicle away from the victims.

Local media report both elderly women were taken to a nearby hospital but doctors could not prevent them from succumbing to their injuries.

S.K. was detained and taken to court where she was found guilty of having killed the two women. She remains in detention awaiting sentencing.

Munevver Can’s husband Ibrahim Can filed a criminal complaint against S.K. for his wife’s death.

Local media report S.K.’s boyfriend had claimed to have been driving the car at the time but the CCTV footage proved she had been behind the wheel.
