LUCKY DAY: Woman Wins USD 300,000 On Way Home From Collecting USD 100,000 Lottery Prize

A woman has won a USD 300,000 lottery prize while on her way home from collecting a USD 100,000 win.

The woman, who decided to remain anonymous but who is 70 years old and from the city of Newark in the US state of Delaware, was thrilled with her first win of USD 100,000 (GBP 88,800), which she went to claim on 20th October.

The Delaware Lottery Games said in a statement on 26th October that the OAP “was thrilled to discover she was a USD 100,000 winner after scratching two USD 100K ULTIMATE CASH Instant Game ticket[s] she purchased from Speedy Gas in Newark.”

They said that she went to the lottery headquarters about a week after her big win to claim her top prize. She reportedly told lottery officials that “it was her biggest win since she began playing the Delaware Lottery seven years ago.”

But then on her way home, after buying another lottery ticket to celebrate, she discovered that she had won a whopping USD 300,000 (GBP 266,600).

The Delaware State Lottery said: “The woman’s lucky day wasn’t over just yet. On her way home, she decided to celebrate by purchasing three SERIOUS MONEY tickets from N. Dover Tiger Mart in Dover. Amazingly, one of the tickets turned out to be a USD 300,000 top prize winner.”

The woman said: “My best friend was the first person I told about winning the USD 100,000 top prize, and she came with me to claim it.”

She added: “When I scratched the USD 300,000 winning SERIOUS MONEY ticket later in the day, we just sat there in disbelief. It was absolute insanity.”

The Delaware State Lottery said: “The pair soon returned to Lottery Headquarters to claim the woman’s USD 300,000 top prize, making her total winnings for the day USD 400,000, and October 20, 2022 a day she won’t soon forget.”

Helene Keeley, Acting Director of the Delaware Lottery, said: “Congratulations to this lucky player on her unique double win.”

She added: “It’s great to see our players bring home six-figure prizes, and Instant Games continue to surprise and delight players throughout the state.”

The lottery officials said that the woman plans to put most of the prize money into her retirement fund.

They added: “When asked if there was anything else she wanted to share about her win, the woman said, ‘Just that I love scratching Instant Game tickets!'”
