This is the moment a Russian cabbie is stopped by police for drink driving despite the fact a pal was pushing his broken-down car down the road – and he has now had his licence suspended.

The bizarre scene took place in the city of Stavropol which belongs to the Stavropol Krai in south-western Russia and was recorded by a patrol car’s dashboard camera.

In the video, a man can be seen pushing a marked taxi down a quiet street. The taxi is veering off to the right when the police pull up beside it.

A cop approaches the man in the driver’s seat, who has not been named but is reportedly 64 years old, and asks him to get out of the vehicle.

The cabbie steps out of the vehicle slowly and appears to use the police officer for support.

According to the press service of the department of the traffic police in the Stavropol territory, the driver sitting at the wheel could barely stand on his feet and slurred his words.

Reports state he did not deny drinking alcohol but said that his car would not start. He was given a breathalyser and reportedly measured 0.7 ppm of alcohol.

His driving licence was reportedly suspended and an administrative case for driving under the influence of alcohol was initiated. He faces a hefty fine or 15 days of administrative arrest if found guilty.
