A 30-year-old maid has been sentenced to nearly eight months in prison for mixing urine, saliva and menstrual blood into her employer’s food and water and stealing nearly 8,000 GBP from their safe.

The trial took place in the island city-state of Singapore and the Indonesian maid, identified as Diana, pleaded guilty to two counts of mischief and one count of theft, according to reports.

The maid, who stole 13,300 SGD (7,615 GBP) from the family’s safe between August 2017 and June 2018, also had a fourth charge taken into consideration.

The 30-year-old Indonesian national was sentenced to just under eight months in prison.

She had been working for the Singaporean family, comprising of six people across three generations, since 2017.

In August 2019, the maid mixed her urine, saliva and menstrual blood into the family’s kettle water knowing they would drink it.

She also mixed her body fluids into some rice she prepared for the family members.

Prosecutor Angela Ang said that by doing this “the family would come to agree with whatever the accused did and would not scold her for her work performance”.

The maid stole 13,300 SGD (7,615 GBP) from the family’s safe on five separate occasions between August 2017 and June 2018, according to reports.

Local media said the family reported the maid to the police in October 2019 and she later confessed to her actions.

In court, Diana apologised to her former employers “from the bottom of my heart”.

She explained that she stole money because her family in Indonesia was in “some distress”.
