A man from Minnesota allegedly told his landlord that he had already dug a grave before he murdered the man who was dating his daughter.

Michael Lee Laflex, 45, has been arrested and charged with murder after he was accused of “executing” his daughter’s boyfriend.

This occurred in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, according to local media reports from Thursday, 3rd November.

Laflex allegedly shot Bryce Brogle, 23, in the back of the head after asking the young man to accompany him to a storage unit that he had rented two days before.

Bryce was then reported as missing by his girlfriend, Cordelia Laflex, according to a statement from the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.

Cordelia’s father allegedly claimed that the 23-year-old had been arrested and that both of his mobile phones had been confiscated by police officers when he was asked about the disappearance.

Offices later refuted these claims after Bryce’s two phones were found in a bin near a gas station.

This was before an unidentified individual informed police that Laflex had told one of his family members that he believed Bryce was abusing Cordelia and had decided to shoot him, according to a probable cause statement.

Laflex then allegedly told his relative that Bryce’s buried corpse would not be discovered.

Authorities were then contacted by someone claiming to be the young couple’s landlord and stated that they were asked by Laflex if Bryce had ever been seen hurting Cordelia.

The statement added: “The landlord shared that the landlord had seen Cordelia with two black eyes.

“Defendant then said he was going to kill Brogle and had already dug the hole.”

A search was then carried out in an area that had been identified as a potential burial site.

The statement added: “The site was excavated and a body with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head was recovered and transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

“The autopsy determined the cause of death to be a distant gunshot wound to the back of the head.

“The body has been identified as Bryce Brogle.”

This was after authorities obtained a search warrant and found blood on the floor of the storage container as well as marks that suggested that someone had been dragged across the ground.

Laflex was then charged with second degree intentional murder, with local prosecutors accusing him of “executing” Bryce Brogle, according to reports.

His bail has been set at USD 2 million (GBP 1.8 million) and he is reportedly due to appear in court again on 15th November.

In a recent Facebook post, Cordelia described Bryce as her “guardian angel forever”.

She added: “A very special person was taken from me, but I know now that he will never leave.
