This is the moment an armed thief confronts a man with his gun raised and realises he knows the would-be victim before giving him a tender hug and riding off.
The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in the eastern Argentine capital Buenos Aires and was later posted on Twitter where it has been viewed nearly 100,000 times.
In the clip, the would-be victim is seen standing at a front door, apparently waiting for it to be answered.
A scooter with two riders turns the corner and one man leaps off to confront the man with his gun raised.
The gunman confronts the would-be victim, but immediately recognises him and they embrace on the pavement.
The suspected thief then jumps on the back of the scooter as the man waves them goodbye from the pavement.
It is currently unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.
Netizen ‘Juan Manuel’ commented: “A thief with a moral code!”
‘Resiste el Rancho’ said: “Such a tender moment.”
‘Marcelo Pena’ wrote: “It doesn’t matter if he was a friend, it qualifies as an attempted robbery and should be investigated. The cops should question the man about the two thieves to prevent others suffering at their hands.”
