Twin Boys, 3, Die After Farmhouse Fills With Carbon Monoxide As Fire Breaks Out

Two twin boys aged just three died after the farmhouse they were sleeping in filled with carbon monoxide when a fire broke out.

The incident took place in the town of Kula in Manisa Province in western Turkey at around noon yesterday (Tuesday, 15th February).

The twins, named as Yusuf Imran and Halil Ibrahim Atalan, were found unconscious by their father Ramazan Atalan, who had been working on the farm when he and his wife, who has been named as Hatice Atalan, noticed smoke rising from the farmhouse.

He rushed into the building to save his children and found them unconscious before taking them hospital, but they sadly passed away. Doctors determined that they had been poisoned by the carbon monoxide from the fire.

The fire brigade responded to the scene and put the fire out after bringing it under control.

The family and their relatives reportedly broke down in tears upon receiving the news that the children had died. Their bodies were sent to the Izmir Forensic Medicine morgue to be autopsied.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated. It is currently believed that an electric stove malfunctioned and caught fire.

The two parents were given a health checkup and were found to have been physically unharmed by the fire and smoke.

It is currently unclear when the bodies of the two children will be released to their parents so they can be buried.
