BIG TRAGEDY: Woman Who Wanted To Lose Weight Dies During Liposuction Op

A woman who wanted to lose weight has died during a liposuction procedure gone wrong after she suddenly developed heart complications.

Montserrat Quezada, 33, died during the procedure at the Corta Estancia Roma Hospital in the neighbourhood of Cuauhtemoc, in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, on 7th December, with the incident making headlines in Mexico on Saturday, 10th December.

Montserrat’s operation began at 7am on the day of her death, but by 9am she had “complications with her heart rhythm” that the surgeon, who has been named as Alejandro Hidalgo Rivera, was not able to reverse, according to local media.

The medical were not able to help her and she was transferred to another hospital where resuscitation procedures were implemented but the medics there were unable to save her and she was declared dead at 1:20pm.

Montserrat, who had reportedly undergone the operation in order to lose weight, was buried on 9th December, with her funeral taking place at a funeral home located in the Moctezuma neighbourhood of the Mexican capital.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation for manslaughter to determine who is responsible for her death. No arrests had been reported at the time of writing.

The investigation is ongoing.

Many clinics in Mexico do not meet the country’s health standards, according to local media, with the country’s Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks saying in June that it was investigating ‘irregular’ cosmetic surgery clinics in five states in the country.
