Teen Plummets From Upper Floor After Clothes Snag On Shopping Centre Escalator

This is the moment a teenage boy’s clothing seemingly snags in the handrail of a shopping centre escalator, dragging him over the railings and dropping him from the second floor onto the shelves of a supermarket below.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in a shopping centre in the city of Tver in the western Russian Tver Oblast and despite the fall, the teenager only suffered a broken leg.

He was later seen being taken on a stretcher to a nearby hospital for medical attention after being removed from the shelving by fireman.

In the footage, the boy is seen waiting at the top of the escalator as his clothing apparently snags on the handrail and he is pulled on top of it.

The escalator drags the boy along as he takes hold of a fixed rail and tries to stop himself being pulled further.

However, the escalator’s momentum forces the boy to let go of the rail and he ends up holding onto the escalator handrail and dangling there for a moment before falling.

According to eyewitnesses, after the accident, the area of the shopping centre was cleared while the emergency services arrived and treated the teenager.

The teenager, whose name and age were not disclosed, is reportedly out of danger with the only injury being his broken leg.
