This is the moment a woman who was about to pack her daily shop into her car is mobbed by a family of hungry wild boars that rip the shopping bag out of her hands and feast on her groceries.

The woman, name not disclosed, just finished her shopping at the Le Rughe shopping centre in the Italian capital Rome when she was mobbed by the sounder of boars (Sus scrofa) earlier this month.

In the footage, the distressed woman is seen rushing around her car with the animals hot on her heels.

She appears to try and get into her car but doesn’t make it as the bigger animal in the sounder gets a grip on her shopping bag.

The woman drops the bag on the ground and the boars quickly pounce on the food.

The boars gorge on the food while paying no attention to the mounting audience that their successful hunt in the car park had attracted.

The wild boar is native to much of Eurasia and North Africa and when fully grown can weigh over 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs) and run at speeds in excess of 50 kph (31 mph).

The size and power of the animals make them potentially dangerous to humans although in this incident the wild pigs reportedly left the car park after finishing their stolen meal.
