This is the painful moment an actress performing above water gets dragged through a pond when the wire holding her up malfunctions.

The incident was caught on video by a viewer as the female performer, not named in local media, was plopped into the water at the scenic spot of Nuoxian Town in Chizhou, in China’s eastern Anhui Province, in front of a live audience.

Spectators gasped as the beautiful woman, wearing a long-sleeved white dress got yanked into the pond by the wire meant to help her up while performing as a fairy.

She was dragged for several feet, barely managing to keep her head above water which almost brought an end to the performance.

But as she made it into the spotlight, she persevered to complete the show, earning applause from the audience.

According to reports, an error made while operating the equipment led to the accident.

The scenic spot stated: “The performer was not injured, and we will report this to the engineering department.”

The video attracted widespread attention on Douyin, the Chinese TikTok. Where it garnered more than 70,000 likes and over 270,000 shares after being posted on 20th March.

One user titled ‘Easy’ remarked: “The flying fairy turns into a drowning woman.”

Another, called ‘Taro paste tiger skin’, said: “Why doesn’t the wire stop when someone falls into the water? It’s a huge safety hazard.”

And ‘Qiqi’ commented: “Being an actor is not easy, this happens all the time.”
