This is the moment a cat who decided to remodel its owner’s sofa while she was out at work tries to convince her it all was just harmless fun.

The puss – from Honghe County, Yunnan Province, south-west China – had dug out the entire arm of a sofa to create a comfy nest it could snuggle into.

Video footage – shot by owner Ms Bai – shows the puss’s head sticking out from the arm apparently proud of its handiwork.

She told local media how she thought the cat might have been paying her back for not getting enough attention.

And she has decided to keep the savaged sofa rather than buy another one for her puss to destroy.

The cat now uses it to sleep inside and comes out to play from time to time, Ms Bai said.

Ms Bai also decided to let the world know of her ‘designer’ cat and shared the video on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

User ‘Honest and reliable XLJ’ jokingly said: “This cat is so worry-free, you don’t need to buy a cat litter for it, it can make one for itself!”
