This is the moment a woman driver apparently loses control of her car while attempting a turn and instead mows down four pedestrians – crushing two against a wall as her wipers swish back and forth wildly.

The horrific accident was captured on a traffic camera in the county of Dafang, which is in Bijie City in China’s south-western province of Guizhou.

The security footage dated 1st September shows the woman in a silver saloon car attempting a right turn but suddenly losing control of the vehicle.

The motorist, named only as Ms Shi, hits a man crossing the street in front of her and carries him briefly on her bonnet.

After he falls off, the woman’s car jolts forwards and crashes into the back of three unsuspecting female pedestrians.

One of the women is knocked to the ground, but two are pushed and crushed against a concrete retaining wall as the vehicle rolls to a stop on the pavement.

The Dafang County Public Security Bureau said four people were injured in the accident, but the extent of their injuries is currently unclear.

Investigators said Ms Shi had no previous traffic or criminal offences, and that she has already been cleared of drink-driving suspicions.

Further investigations are ongoing.
