This footage shows a silver van suddenly bursting into flames on a motorway leaving a trail of burning petrol behind as the motorist carries on driving.

The incident, which fortunately caused no injuries, happened on Chengfeng East Road in the city of Kunshan in China’s eastern province of Jiangsu.

The footage dated 12th June shows smoke coming out the back of the silver van, which is using the middle of three lanes when it suddenly bursts into flames.

The explosion causes a trail of petrol to spill out onto the road, and the flammable liquid ends up burning in a line hundreds of feet long behind the van.

Motorists either side of the burning vehicle can be seen trying their best to avoid the fire, with none caught up in the flames, authorities said.

A spokesman for the Kunshan fire service said: “The van caught fire on Chenfeng East Road at about 10:40am.

“The driver’s fine. He got out.”

Images show the heavily burnt van having been doused by arriving firemen.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Referring to the 2007 movie ‘Ghost Rider’, which is based on a Marvel Comics character of the same name, social media user ‘Zi__Xiao’ wrote: “That’s Nicolas Cage’s van.”
