This is the moment an injured horse struggles on the bonnet of a car after its legs and top half had gone through the windscreen leading to a campaign to raise funds for its recovery.
The incident was filmed in the municipality of Guaynabo in the unincorporated US territory Puerto Rico, and the footage was later shared on Facebook where it has gone viral with over 2.2 million views.
According to local media, the emergency services had to cut the horse free of the wreckage and the animal suffered multiple injuries and open wounds.
Fortunately, the unnamed driver was unhurt in the incident.
In the viral footage, the horse is seen struggling on the bonnet of a red Daewoo Lanos after its four legs and top half appear to have gone through the windscreen.
Reports said that the horse, named Ranchero, survived the car crash and was later reunited with its owner Machito Swing.
Swing reportedly compensated the car owner for the damage to his vehicle.
Meanwhile, a campaign has been launched to raise money for the horse’s veterinary costs.
Netizen ‘Isaias Colon Aponte’ commented: “It’s the irresponsible owner’s fault. I am glad the horse and driver were not badly hurt.”
‘Torres Marta’ said: “It’s good to know the horse is okay and that the driver’s damages will be paid.”
It is currently unclear how the accident took place and an investigation is underway.
