This is the shocking moment a distracted five-year-old boy steps into the road and is crushed under the front wheel of a passing car.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in the neighbourhood of Sierra Morena in the municipality of Ciudad Bolivar in the central Colombian capital of Bogota, and the video was later shared on social media.

In the footage, the distracted young boy is seen looking in the wrong direction as he steps into the road.

A slow-moving car knocks the tot to the ground, but the vehicle continues rolling forwards until the front wheel crushes the poor boy’s back.

With the weight of the car on the five-year-old’s body, a woman frantically tells the driver to back up before scooping the motionless boy in her arms and running across the street.

The driver gets out of the vehicle and appears visibly upset as he talks to onlookers in the street.

According to local news programme ‘Noticias Caracol’, the police and local health authority have not been able to offer any updates on the boy’s current condition or what happened after the incident with the motorist.
