This is the moment a drunk tricycle rider deliberately hits the back of a lorry before theatrically clutching his leg in fake agony and claiming he had been run into.

The brazen ‘crash-for-cash’ attempt happened on the streets of Pujiang County, which is in the city of Jinhua in Zhejiang Province in East China, on 6th January

The traffic camera footage shows tricycle owner Mr Fang riding headlong towards lorry driver Mr Ni, who swerves and brakes to avoid the man.

When Mr Fang’s alleged attempts to create an accident fail, he circles round the lorry and cycles into the back of the vehicle.

In the video, Mr Fang rear-ends the lorry and then walks to the front of the vehicle to remonstrate with Mr Ni, who remains in his cabin and reportedly calls the cops.

By the time the police arrive, Mr Fang is already on the ground clutching his leg, faking an injury and claiming the lorry had been driven into him.

Pujiang police said traffic camera footage proved Mr Ni’s innocence, with Mr Fang then arrested for his alleged fraud attempt on the spot.

Investigators said Mr Fang twice attempted to scam passing drivers earlier the same night.

When he was unsuccessful, he went out drinking and came back intoxicated for his third attempt.

His minor public order crime is expected to land him a detention sentence of no more than 15 days.
