A two-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself while playing with a loaded gun in his father’s pickup truck.
Warren Bennett Oser died from a single shot after finding the handgun in his father’s vehicle in Johnson County, North Carolina State, USA, on 15th October.
He was declared dead from a gunshot wound at hospital.
His dad – also called Warren – has been charged with failure to properly and securely store his firearms to protect minors.
The toddler’s death was described as an “unfortunate incident” by local authorities and has sent shockwaves through the area, local media reported on 1st November.
Neighbours have raised money to cover the price of the two-year-old’s funeral service after reaching their USD 20,000 (GBP 17,423) goal on GoFundMe.
The toddler’s parents described him as a “happy child” who loved dinosaurs and whose favourite colour was white in his online obituary.
Bennet’s preferred food was listed as pizza or “peeshba” while his favourite toys included balloons and tractors.
His parents added: “Bennett was a free spirit with a wild soul who always kept us on our toes.
“We are grateful and blessed that God chose us to be his parents and let us watch over him for even the short amount of time that he had on earth.”
