HAIR TODAY: Woman Scalped By Sugar Cane Threshing Machine

A 20-year-old woman has been left fighting for her life after her scalp was completely torn off when her hair caught in a sugar cane threshing machine.

The woman- identified Ser Savy – was working in the fields extracting sugar cane juice for sale when her hair caught in a gust of wind on 15th December.

Within seconds she was dragged into the powerful machine at Kbal Romeas village, in Kbal Romeas commune, in Cambodia’s Sesan district.

In a desperate struggle to escape, she also lost three fingers, according to local media.

Fellow workers were unable to turn off the threshing machine until she had suffered serious injuries.

She was rushed critically injured to the local Provincial Referral Hospital, where medics sent her by ambulance to a hospital in neighbouring Vietnam for urgent treatment.

The heavy machinery is used for crushing sugar cane and extracting the juice, chopping up the plant into small pieces before shredding it and putting the mulch through a roller.

The injured woman is reportedly married and has a young child.
