This is the moment a gunman shoots a street vendor in broad daylight and appears to unload his weapon into the victim’s body on the ground.
The incident was filmed in the neighbourhood of Merced Balbuena in the central Mexican capital Mexico City and was later shared on social media by netizen ‘Ramon Ramirez’.
According to local media, the 36-year-old victim, identified as street seller Emilio Mendez, had recently been threatened by the leader of a known gang in the area.
On the day of his death, the street seller was talking to a woman through a metal barrier when two gunmen approached him.
Without saying a word, one of the gunmen repeatedly shot Mendez dead while his accomplice threatened the woman through the barrier, according to reports.
Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly afterwards, but the victim had already died from the multiple gunshot wounds, according to reports.
In a statement, the Attorney General of Mexico City confirmed they have launched an investigation into the street seller’s death although no one has been arrested yet.
The search for the gunmen continues and no motive has been provided for the crime.
In the video, the victim is seen in a baseball cap and white coat as two men in dark jackets walk towards him.
The first man repeatedly shoots Mendez, even when he is lying on the ground, as his accomplice points his gun at the person on the other side of the barrier.
