This is the moment former Bolivian President Evo Morales and his former Vice-President are comforted by crying supporters before boarding the plane to live in exile in Mexico.

The video which was leaked onto social media yesterday (Wednesday) shows ex-president Morales with former vice-president Alvaro Garcia Linera at the Chimore Airport in the municipality with the same name in the Cochabamba Department in western Bolivia.

Reports said that he kept the handful of earth in his t-shirt pocket throughout the flight.

Then Morales is also seen surrounded by sobbing supporters who hug him minutes before boarding the plane that would take him and his fellow politicians to Mexico.

According to reports, Morales flew to Mexico last Tuesday after he stepped down as President of Bolivia due to the pressure of the national army and the police and the civil uprising in the country due to irregularities in the elections that were confirmed by the Organisation of American States (OEA).

Morales flew to Mexico with former vice-president Linera and the former Health Minister Gabriela Montano where they were granted political asylum by Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
