The parents of a baby girl have been arrested after the six-week-old tot died in hospital with multiple injuries including broken bones, bite marks and abrasions around her genitals.

The tiny baby, just 46 days old and identified as Nurul Ain Umairah, was reportedly found unconscious by her unnamed parents, both 22, at their home in the north-western Malaysian state of Penang.

The tot was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with multiple injuries and bruises on her head, legs and neck that included several broken ribs and a broken left thigh bone.

There were also signs of bite marks on her body and abrasions around her genitals.

She died of a brain haemorrhage believed to have been caused by a strong blow with a blunt instrument.

The girl’s parents were arrested and placed in police custody for seven days while the investigation continues, according to local media.

A urine test reportedly showed that the suspects were not under the influence of drugs, however the motive for alleged abuse is not yet know.

The baby’s 53-year-old grandfather was shocked to hear about the infant’s suffering, telling local media that he cannot believe the alleged abuse took place in his own house.

The investigation into the baby’s shocking death is ongoing.

Netizen ‘Thomas Lai’ commented: “Maybe they did not want the responsibility of being parents.”

‘Hafiz Adruce’ said: “No need to bring the parents to court, a little street justice would be better.”

‘DT Sonia’ wrote: “The baby girl so cute, what kind of parents would do that?”
