A popular clown who performs at children’s parties has been arrested for raping his minor stepdaughter whilst her mother was out of the house.

The 33-year-old suspect, identified in reports only as Jose Felipe, was reported to the authorities by his unnamed partner for sexually abusing and raping her 12-year-old daughter, whose identity has not been revealed.

The incident occurred in the municipality of Nicolas Romero in the State of Mexico where the suspect worked under the name ‘Payaso Totoy’ (‘Clown Totoy’ in English).

The clown’s partner told investigators that the suspect took advantage of her leaving the house to sexually abuse the 12-year-old girl in her home.

The authorities say the suspect threatened the victim by saying that he would hurt her brothers if she told anyone about the rape, according to local media.

Reports state that as cops were arresting the suspect the clown tried to bribe the police officers by offering them 800 MXN (31 GBP) not to be detained. 

The suspect was reportedly well-known because he was a popular act at children’s parties, which has led the authorities not to dismiss the suspicion that he abused more minors.

He remains detained while the investigation is ongoing and local media report a judge is processing whether the suspect will be charged with sexual abuse, rape or neither.

Netizen ‘Edgar Herrera Diaz de Leon’ commented: “They should castrate him.”
