Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Real Madrid over fears he could “weigh on” Juventus’ finances after the coronavirus pandemic, it has been reported.

Former Manchester United winger Ronaldo, 35, has been linked with a potential return to his former club in the Spanish capital despite having a contract with Juventus until the summer of 2022.

Italian newspaper ‘Corriere Dello Sport’ claim the Portuguese forward could “still weigh on the accounts of Juventus for around 58 million EUR (50 million GBP)”.

If Real Madrid offer to pay that amount along with the winger’s reported annual salary of 31 million EUR (27 million GBP), it could leave the “prospect in suspense”.

The report goes on to say “Juventus do not expect any surprises” referring to a shock transfer deal but says Ronaldo “clearly” misses Madrid “a lot”, as was claimed by Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre who is reportedly a friend of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

It is unclear if Real Madrid are willing to make the offer or if there have been talks between the two clubs, however, this is not the first time Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Los Blancos.

He was seen at the Bernabeu on 1st March watching Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the Clasico sparking rumours as Aguirre said: “I’m sure he felt the urge to return to Madrid.”

Ronaldo enjoyed great success at Real Madrid winning the UEFA Champions League four times and La Liga twice. He also won the FIFA Club World Cup on three occasions.
