The grand opening of Cristiano Ronaldo’s new luxury hotel has reportedly been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Portuguese superstar Ronaldo’s new Pestana CR7 Gran Via hotel located in the centre of the Spanish capital of Madrid has reportedly had to postpone its opening due to the coronavirus, officially named COVID-19 by the Worl Health Organization.
The hotel’s social media account made a post made in January saying: “Madrid, we’re getting closer and closer! The new Pestana CR7 Gran Via opens soon. Stay tuned for more details.”

However, their plans to open in early June of this year have reportedly had to be delayed after the COVID-19 outbreak in Madrid has left the capital city paralysed.
All construction work in the Spanish capital was halted to stop the spread of the virus after the country-wide corona lockdown was implemented on 14th March.
The lockdown has reportedly delayed projects in the hotel which led to having to delay their opening.
Despite reports, there has been no statement by the hotel directors or Ronaldo, 35, confirming the postponement. It is unclear when the new opening day will take place.
The Pestana CR7 Gran Via is located in central Madrid on the Gran Via street which is one of the city’s most important shopping and touristic areas.
It will have 168 rooms ranging from 13 to 38 square metres (139 to 409 square feet). Due to its location, the hotel will have privileged views overlooking the famous street.
Pestana CR7 Gran Via will be Ronaldo’s third hotel with the Pestana Hotel Group. He has one in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon (Pestana CR7 Lisboa) and another in his native city of Funchal (Pestana CR7 Funchal).
Spain has been one of the hardest-hit countries by COVID-19 in the world.
According to the latest figures by Johns Hopkins University, there have been 112,065 cases leading 10,348 deaths.
