An Argentine radio presenter has been found stabbed to death in her bathroom and the police have arrested her ex-partner and father of their 13-year-old daughter.

Popular radio presenter Vanessa Lobo Noble, 35, was found dead in her home in the neighbourhood of San Felipe in the north-western Argentine province of Tucuman on 5th February.

The investigation reportedly began as a traffic investigation when a passerby called the police about a damaged car on the side of the road without a driver anywhere to be seen.

The authorities determined that the owner of the vehicle was security guard Walter Orlando Rodriguez, 40.

The police arrived at his registered address where he reportedly lived with Vanessa, despite having separated three years previously, and their 13-year-old daughter.

Upon entry, officers found Vanessa’s body in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds and called for paramedics who confirmed that she had died.

According to the newspaper Cronica, the authorities have declared Rodriguez the prime suspect in the murder case.

A subsequent search operation ensued with police and sniffer dogs and they were able to track down the suspect within 24 hours.

Police spokesperson Diego Bernachi, who took an active role in the search, told media source Los Primeros: “We were combing the area since yesterday with a large team from different police departments to find the suspect who was hiding in an abandoned hut in the middle of a mountain in the Los Aguirres area.”

Police believe the victim was attacked in her bathroom following an argument in the early hours of the morning.

The preliminary forensics report found that the victim fought for her life but was overpowered, suffering a brain contusion, strangulation, and 18 deep cuts to the abdomen.

According to Cronica, the woman recently said on social media that she had started dating a younger man, although it is unclear if this was the reason for their argument.

Their teenage daughter was not in the house at the time of the incident.

Rodriguez has been placed in pre-trial detention where he is expected to remain for up to four months as he awaits trial.
