Cops are investigating after this mother allegedly hanged her three-year-old son before taking her own life.

The shocking incident took place in the south-central Russian city of Krasnoyarsk in Krasnoyarsk Krai after mother Irina Golubeva, 32, was found hanging dead in her flat next to her three-year-old son.

Local media report the unnamed father of the boy, who lived apart from the mother, felt something was wrong as he could not get in touch with Golubeva.

He decided to visit them but the door to their flat was locked and nobody answered when he rang the bell.

The emergency services were called and the door was opened to reveal the dead bodies of the mother and son.

Local media report the mother had hanged her son before taking her own life. An investigation has been launched into the incident and the Golubeva’s neighbours told reporters she was a loving mother.

An unnamed worker from a local shop said: “She used to buy him everything he wanted – any toys or sweets. It was a very good family. I don’t know why they separated with the boy’s father but they kept sweet and calm relations.”

No motive has been provided for the crime and the father was reportedly left in shock. The investigation is ongoing.
