These images show a female prison cook who accidentally impaled her hand and index finger with a metal wire while using a faulty meat grinder.
The unnamed employee works in the canteen of a detention facility in the county of Changtu in Liaoning Province in north-eastern China.
According to the fire service, she was preparing meals in the kitchen and making mince meat when she turned on the meat grinder on 10th October.
The steel wire, which is thought to be attached and part of the grinder, sprung out and impaled her right hand.
The wire went into her palm, came out and then pierced the index finger of the same hand, threading it and coming out the tip of the digit.
The wincing and weak prison cook is seen sitting on the kitchen floor covering her eyes with her left hand as a firefighter shears the steel wire with a pair of large cutters.
She is escorted out of the detention centre as the clip ends.
The authorities said the woman was freed from the grinder in about a minute and was treated at a local hospital.
Doctors are understood to have removed the steel wire without issue, and she is recovering from the injury.
She is not expected to suffer any long-term effects.
