This is the moment a primary school headmaster lifts a young boy up by his ears before punching one lad and slapping another in front of a stunned assembly.

The incident took place during the national anthem ceremony at the Yakarioz Primary School in the district of Yaprakli located in the north-western Turkish province of Cankiri.

According to local media, the headmaster was filmed by a parent and the footage was widely shared online, leading to the headmaster’s dismissal.

In the video, the headmaster, identified as O.U., is seen shouting to the assembly while his hands are gripped around the ears of a young student.

With the boy holding onto the headmaster’s wrists, he is pulled up by his ears until at eye level.

In the next scene, two boys are seen being slapped around the face by the headmaster.

The reason behind the bizarre disciplinary action is currently unknown.

After the video sparked outrage on social media, the Ministry of National Education issued the statement: “The incident which was filmed by a parent at a primary school in Cankiri and later spread online took place on 8th March 2019.

“Upon learning about the incident, ministry officials have started an investigation and the person in question has been dismissed. The legal procedure is still ongoing.”
