Huge Waves Flood Streets Of Mexican City During Storm

These images show how the streets of a Mexican city have become completely flooded with seawater as waves crash onto the shore during a period of intense storms.

The startling scenes were recorded n the city of Boca del Rio, in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz where strong winds coming from the north were registered at up to 110 kph.

In the video, the streets near the ocean can be seen completely flooded as waves continue crashing on the shoreline.

Another clip shows the huge waves crashing into a barrier spilling onto a road as cars pass by.

The Centre of Studies and Weather Broadcast of the Secretary of Civil Protection of the state of Veracruz warned citizens to be careful in the strong winds.

The Civil Protection in Veracruz said huge waves could be caused by the winds which are a result of a cold front in the area.

Reports state the strong winds lifted and destroyed advertisement hoardings, roofs and the roof of a bus was reportedly lifted off causing damage to other cars.

The authorities recommended citizen to avoid sailing or fishing in the sea during the high winds and told boat owners to ensure their vessels were anchored and tied up.

No injuries have been reported.
