These images show Belgian monster Marc Dutroux who raped, starved and tortured young girls in his basement as he is secretly filmed rotting in prison for the first time in years.

The evil serial killer and paedophile is serving life in prison since 2004 over the kidnap, rape, torture and murder of teenage girls between June 1995 and August 1996.

Four were murdered and two were found starving in the torture basement of his home in Belgium.

In these latest images – Dutroux who previously demanded regular haircuts and exercise equipment in prison – can be seen with grey hair and an unkempt grey beard as he strolls care-free across a prison yard.

His bulging waistline can also be spotted underneath his clothing in Belgium’s Nivelles prison.

In the series, which aired on Belgian TV last night (Tues) the evil predator can be heard proclaiming his innocence.

He claims that being unjustly convicted, as he sees it, is worse than being in prison.

The clandestine footage was filmed by other inmates at the prison.

The Dutroux affair erupted in August 1996, when police arrested the unemployed electrician following the abduction of 14-year-old girl Laetitia Delhez.

She was found alive two days later along with severely emaciated Sabine Dardenne, 12, in the basement of his house the Charleroi suburb of Marcinelle.

In August, 1998, the bodies of eight-year-olds Julie Lejeune and Melissa Russo were found buried in the garden of Dutroux’s other home in the southern town of Sars La Buissiere.

A month later, the bodies of Ann Marchal and Eefje Lambrecks were found in another property owned by Dutroux.

Meanwhile, the predator’s lawyer told local media as the programme aired that his client no longer ‘had the punch’ to write a letter to his victims’ families.

Bruno Dayez said: “He no longer has the punch to finish the letter he had started to write to the Marchal and Lambrechts families. He is in depressed, under medication, and sleeps all the time.”

The letters that were supposed to be addressed to Julie and Melissa’s parents will not be finished either.

He added: “I felt such hostility from the Russo’s lawyer that I don’t want a letter from Dutroux to give the impression that he is harassing them. “

He added that he didn’t want to “add fuel to the fire”.

There was widespread outcry across Belgium at the time of the case as many felt that cops missed clues which could have seen him caged earlier.

At the time it also emerged that he had been released from jail in 1992 after serving just three years of a 13-year sentence for the abduction and rape of five girls.

Over 300,000 people took to the streets of Brussels in October 1996 to march against judicial incompetence over the case.
