This is the moment a trapped herd of wild boars jump from a building roof after reportedly fleeing from hunters and falling onto a factory roof from an overpass.

After falling onto the building the panicked boars then jumped off the roof of the Licuados Vegetales factory in the municipality of Viladrau in the north-eastern Spanish region of Catalonia.

According to local media, the herd was chased out of a nearby nature park by hunters before tumbling onto the factory rood from an overpass.

Once the wild boars found themselves on the roof, they were effectively trapped and eventually decided to plummet from the height in order to flee, as seen in the video.

Reports said that one of the wild boars died after jumping from the roof while the others were able to escape.

The animals also left blood splatters all over the complex and it is believed that one or more were injured previously, possibly by chasing hunters rather than in the two falls.

According to local media, there is a large number of wild boars in the area and residents are used to seeing them scavenging through bins for food.

Catalan hunting and fishing official Jordi Ruiz said that the population of wild boars has multiplied by seven in recent years.

He added: “When their numbers were smaller, they stayed away from humans, but now their population is larger, they are no longer unafraid to approach people.”

It is even common to see wild boars near the popular beach in the area, according to reports.

Hunting is one method of attempting to control their numbers. It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.
