This is the moment a stray dog manages to eat some blended food after being shot twice in the mouth and left for dead in a busy city centre.
The incident took place in the city of Targu Bujor in the eastern Romanian county of Galati before the animal was found by a passersby in a courtyard.
After being shot in the mouth at least twice the stray was found barely breathing before being taken to a nearby veterinary clinic by members of the animal rights NGO ‘Help Labus’.
Vets confirmed the animal had been shot twice and hope to operate on the dog in the near future as it is too risky to do so now, according to reports.
Police spokesperson Gabriela Costin told local media: “Officers from Targu Bujor have opened a criminal case regarding the illegal use of weapons as well as injuring and abusing an animal.”
‘Help Labus’ member Corina Grigore said: “The dog is four years old and badly disfigured right now. It is miraculous how the animal survived being shot in the mouth twice.
“The vets said the stray was shot with an airgun. Right now, it is in a bad condition and a complicated surgical procedure will take place soon.”
If caught the culprit could face up to two years behind bars.
