The suspect, Jazibe Belem Lopez Arango, whose age was not given, was working at the Miguel de Cervantes Kindergarten in the town of Villa de Etla in the south-western Mexican state of Oaxaca when the alleged abuse happened over a decade ago.

According to news site Nuevo Laredo, the director of the centre, Domingo Ramirez, was convicted of corruption and the sexual abuse of minors as well as child pornography together with his wife Margarita Jimenez Garcia and their two sons Erick and Alejandro Ramirez Jimenez, who all worked as teachers in the kindergarten.

The role of Lopez Arango, who now faces the same charges, involved delivering the children to a property next to the school between March 29th and April 30th 2007 when the alleged abuse took place.

It was also claimed that she filmed the children being penetrated with objects, with the victims later confirming what had been happening to them.

National newspaper Cimac Noticias, citing the claims by the children, said Erick Ramirez “possibly injected them with drugs” beforehand.

According to Televisa Regional, when the family-of-four was jailed, the escaped teacher fled and even had plastic surgery to change her chin and nose.

However, she was found hiding at a friend’s house using an alias and finally arrested this week.

The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the recent arrest in a statement which read: “For the crime of corruption of minors, the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office detained a woman in the state of Veracruz.

“The act was committed in 2007 against five students from the Miguel de Cervantes Institute of Villa de Etla. The accused was transferred and placed at the disposal of the Criminal Court.”

At the first hearing, the defendant reportedly denied the charges and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
