This YouTuber has been arrested for recording himself walking into a classroom dressed up as a clown and throwing a cake in the teacher’s face in front of his pupils.

Spanish YouTuber ‘Punto Lunatico’, real name Kevin Cortes, 23, has been arrested after recording himself throwing the cake in the Muralla Romana in the city of Lugo in the north-western Spanish region of Galicia.

In the video, the prankster can be seen dressed as a zebra with a clown mask when he walks into a classroom and waves at the pupils.

The teacher, who has not been named in reports, stands up and the YouTuber then throws a cake at him before sprinting away.

The case was reported to the police and Cortes and his unnamed accomplice were both arrested that afternoon.

Local media report Cortes has since been released with charges but the exact charges are unclear.

The YouTuber spoke to the TV programme Espejo Publico (Public Mirror) broadcast by Antena 3 in Spain, and said he “didn’t think” the video “was going to create so much controversy”.

He insisted it was not a planned attack and that he did not know the school or the teacher, adding: “I decided to do it because it was something that came to me at that moment, but I did not have a determined motive.

“I did it randomly. When they arrested me they explained that doing it to a teacher is the same as doing it to a police officer.”

Since legal reforms in 2015, teachers and health workers in the exercise of their functions are considered as the authority in Spain, and Article 550 of the penal code says actions such as the YouTuber’s can be punished by between one to four years in prison in addition to fines.

The video has received over 2,200 likes on social media in under two days.

The teacher’s union ANPE showed their support for the teacher involved and said they had asked the local Department of Education for “all the necessary support for our attacked colleague, in the legal sphere and in any other form. ANPE has made itself available for the teacher so that this aggression is not left unpunished.”
