This is the moment a toddler is seen bouncing up and down on a set of window burglar bars as their grandmother watches on apparently oblivious to the danger.

Video taken in the district of Xuanhua in Zhangjiakou, a city in North China’s Hebei Province, shows the one-year-old standing on the thin burglar bars outside the window of their home.

The tot is holding the security bars with both hands and can be seen bouncing up and down on the bars yesterday (24th March).

The grandmother, who is sitting next to the window and minding the child, does not appear concerned that her grandchild could slip between gaps of the security bars.

The child can be seen swinging left and right in the clip, which attracted concerned comments online.

According to reports, the grandmother later brought her grandchild indoors after a reminder from the neighbour.

The woman wanted her grandchild to get some fresh air but did not want to risk being infected by going out onto the street, reports added.

However, members of the public noted that allowing the child to play on the security bars risked her grandchild falling and suffering serious injuries.

Netizens ‘Resou’ wrote: “That’s far too dangerous.”

‘Laocheng Gushier’ added: “I live in a residential district where a 4-year-old boy fell to his death after his mother let him play on their 4th floor security bars.”

According to the latest figures released by Chinese health authorities, Zhangjiakou has had 319 confirmed COVID-19 cases and six deaths to date.
