This viral video seen more than three million times shows a foreign exchange student in China shoving a policeman during a traffic stop row before he is surrounded by an angry mob of locals.

The footage filmed on the streets of Fuzhou, capital of East China’s Fujian Province, shows the aggressive international student shouting at the traffic cop in the middle of a crossroads on 9th July.

According to witnesses, he and his passenger – a young Chinese woman – had been stopped on their electric scooter for an undisclosed traffic offence.

The student, whose name, age and nationality have not been released, reportedly lost his temper and began pushing the policeman when he confiscated his keys.

In the video, he can be heard shouting in Mandarin: “Give them back! Give them back!”

The uniformed cop repeatedly points to the side of the road, saying: “Come over here!”

The officer is then forced to run away in order to protect himself as the man violently shoves him in the chest.

Subsequent footage shows the international student appearing to attempt an escape on his scooter despite apparently having no keys.

He is surrounded by officers as well as an angry mob of local residents who shout him down.

The student, who is on exchange at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, was reportedly arrested but not charged.

A spokeswoman for the Fuzhou Public Security Bureau said: “It wasn’t too serious. He just pushed the traffic cop around.

“He’s been handed over to his university for punishment.

“We mainly want to criticise and educate. Punishment is supplementary.”
