This is the moment a teacher pours water on a sleeping student to wake them up in a clip which has seen the educator suspended from his job.

The incident took place in a school of the municipality of Izucar de Matamoros, in the central Mexican state of Puebla and was recorded and shared on social media.

In the video, the teacher, named in reports as Guillermo Vazquezis can be seen pouring water over a student who had reportedly fallen asleep in class.

Other pupils can be heard laughing as the student is woken up by the water.

Some netizens slammed the teacher for his actions, such as ‘maar700430’ added: “Why the hell didn’t he ask what is going on with the student instead of throwing him water?”.

And ‘manuel_mene’ wrote: “That beast is not a teacher.”

But ‘10alcaraz13’ commented: “It seems the teacher gets along well with the students”.

Some parents reportedly saw the incident as disrespectful and Oscar Garcia Rodriguez, the Headmaster of the school, told local media that they had started an investigation.

The teacher will be questioned and he has reportedly been temporarily suspended while the investigation is ongoing.

Reports suggest this is not the first time the teacher has acted like this around his students.
