These images show a single dad who impaled his face with six metal bars after he crashed into the back of a lorry.

Driver Jiang Shaogan was prised from the wreckage of his mangled car by firefighters with sections of the reinforced steel bars still in his face following the rear-end crash on the evening of 2nd September.

His daughter, Jiang Yanan, 24, has called her dad “the person I love the most” – and said he “could lose both eyes” as a result of the horrific facial injuries.

The accident happened on Xiangyang Road in Fuyang City’s Yingdong District, which is in East China’s Anhui Province, with Mr Jiang driving into the back of the lorry hauling the shipment of reinforced steel bars which shot through his front windscreen.

Reports said Mr Jiang’s saloon car did not brake – no skid marks were discovered at the crash site – and he was found unconscious in the driver’s seat with a total of 11 metal bars having impaled his face and body.

Video shows firefighters cutting him free in a reported 10 minutes before putting him on an ambulance and taking him to Anhui Provincial Hospital, which is in the provincial capital of Hefei.

He has reportedly undergone emergency surgery to remove the steel bars from his face, but he remains unconscious in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Jiang Yanan, who has a younger brother, has turned to Chinese crowdfunding platform Shuidichou to ask for the public’s help.

She wrote: “When I got the call, I couldn’t believe it. It was like a knife to the heart.

“My parents divorced when I was in primary school. Dad has provided for me and my little brother, as well as our grandad who is in his 70s.

“Because of us, he never remarried and has been the family’s breadwinner.

“Dad is still in intensive care receiving treatment, but he could lose both eyes.

“This is my first experience with life and death, He is the person I love the most, and is the person who loves me the most.”

Jiang Yanan revealed her father requires no less than 500,000 RMB (57,620 GBP) for surgery and further post-operative treatment in intensive care.

She is also accepting donations via her Alipay account (15385819255).

While authorities continue to investigate the case, reports said the driver of the three-wheeled lorry had already been cleared of drink- and drug-driving offences.

However, he could be charged for overloading the vehicle and allowing the steel bars to protrude off the back of the cargo bed.
