This is the tragic granddad accidentally shot in the head and killed by his 14-year-old grandson who was playing with a shotgun in their home.

The shocking incident occurred at the family home in the Celtik district of Konya province in Turkey.

Local media report the teenage grandson, named in reports by his initials S.C.Y., grabbed a shotgun which was hanging on the wall of the home and began playing with it in the house.

However, the youngster accidentally pulled the trigger of the shotgun and the bullet hit his grandfather, 68 -year-old Abdullah Y. in the head as he was sitting in the garden.

The family called an ambulance immediately but the paramedics could only declare that the grandfather had lost his life. 

An image taken from the scene shows Abdullah Y.’s body slumped in a chair with a pool of blood beneath his head.

The police took the teenager to a police station to give a statement on the incident.

The body of the victim was taken to Haci Izzet Baysal Yunak State Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy. The investigation is still ongoing.
