This is the moment a teenage girl robber tries to stand and realises her leg is hanging by a thread after she was apparently rammed off her bike by a motorist who wanted to stop her and her accomplice from escaping.
A CCTV video of the incident that includes the violent assault by the teen girl aged 18 and her 17-year-old male accomplice also shows the moment they tried to flee in the city of Boa Vista in the northern Brazilian state of Roraima on the afternoon of Friday, 20th August.
Some reports say that they veered onto the wrong side of the road and were hit and others suggest that they were deliberately targeted by the motorist who had witnessed the attack and wanted to stop them from escaping.
The footage confirms that they were on their side of the road when the car crossed into their lane and hit them head-on.
The collision sent them flying into the air, with the teenage girl who was driving landing on the dirt pavement with the lower part of her leg almost cut clean off from the rest of her body.
She is then seen lying on the ground apparently in agony with her lower leg out of place, her bone protruding through her large open wound, and a pool of blood on the ground.
According to the police, the teens had approached a woman who was cycling down the street and the boy riding pillion had tried to snatch her handbag from her.
However, he did not manage to prize the bag from her grip, so he kicked her in the stomach, snatched her mobile phone, and remounted the motorbike. The pair were riding away when the collision took place.
According to news source Portal do Zacarias, the driver of the car hit the pair intentionally after witnessing the theft.
The teen boy was also injured in the accident. He suffered a fracture to his left leg and was taken by ambulance to hospital after trying to flee the scene on foot and being apprehended by locals.
He was later taken to a police station. He was found to have a prior criminal record for robbery, theft and murder.
The injured woman was also taken to hospital by ambulance, but her current health status is unknown.
