This is the moment a young girl who is knocked off her mum’s scooter and run over by a car is rescued in less than a minute by a group of Good Samaritans.

The accident happened as the girl was being driven to school by her mother, Ms Xu, in the city of Shaoxing in China’s eastern province of Zhejiang on the morning of 7th November.

Traffic camera footage shows the Ms Xu’s scooter travelling straight on Qixing Road when a red hatchback makes a right turn from Nanyan Road.

The vehicle does not slow down in time and collides with Ms Xu’s scooter from the right side, knocking both mother and daughter to the ground.

The small car is then driven over the child before stopping, leaving Ms Xu in a state of panic as she circles the vehicle trying to find a way to free the girl.

In the video, around a dozen people, including pedestrians and nearby drivers, rush to Ms Xu’s aid.

They gather around the front of the car and lift the hatchback, helping to free Ms Xu’s daughter in a reported 38 seconds.

Ms Xu said: “I was really panicking. I called out to people nearby to help me find my daughter. They all came right away.

Shaoxing police said the hatchback driver would be held liable for the crash for failing to slow down and give way to Ms Xu’s scooter. The child reportedly escaped with only minor injuries.
